Researchers at ASTRON and JIVE eagerly await the arrival of eight UniBoards in the first week of April 2011.

 

Recently, November 17-19, 2010 - a group of enthusiastic people who are determined to bring radio astronomy closer to the public met in Bologna. Under the umbrella of RadioNet, they held a workshop on the coordination of outreach activities between the RadioNet institutes and facilities.

On 5/6 October 2010, the Ventspils International Radio Astronomy Centre, Latvia, hosted the RadioNet Mid-Term Review. The meeting reviewed the current status and progress of all components of RadioNet under the current EC FP7 programme.

 

The Joint European and National Astronomy Meeting (JENAM 2010) was held from 6 to 10 September at the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon.

On May 22nd 2010, the dish of the Sardinia Radio Telescope (SRT) has been lifted and mounted on its final structure. The Sardinia Radio Telescope is a 64-m dish, realized by 3 INAF institutes. It will be used in single dish mode for a wide range of astronomical observations, as well as VLBI antenna for the European VLBI Network.

On 4 may the RadioNet board visited Sardinia for it's second board meeting. On may 5th the currently constructed 64-metre radio telescope was visited.

 

The Panoramic Radio Astronomy (PRA) conference was held in Groningen (the Netherlands) on 2-5 June 2009. It focused in particular on the following upcoming facilities: Aperture Tile In Focus (APERTIF), the Australian SKA Pathfinder (ASKAP), the Allen Telescope Array (ATA), the Expanded Very Large Array (EVLA), and the Karoo Array Telescope (MeerKAT)

Recently, the Shangai Observatory (SHAO) has asked to join RadioNet. The RadioNet board has agreed and legal actions are prepared so that SHAO will become an official RadioNet member in the coming months.

RadioNet FP7, coordinated by ASTRON, was present at the IAU`s XXVII GENERAL ASSEMBLY.

 

Early August the Grant Agreement arrived at ASTRON. Both the EC and ASTRON have officially signed the Grant Agreement.
