NewsYERAC 2016Fri, 03/06/2016 - 11:49This year's YERAC will be organized and sponsored by the MPI for Radioastronomy in collaboration with its IMPRS for Astronomy and Astrophysics. As in most years since 1968, early stage radioastronomers (i.e. PhD candidates and postdocs) will meet, discuss and network in a relaxed atmosphere. Each participant is given the opportunity to give an oral talk.
Active Galactic Nuclei: What's in a name?Thu, 26/11/2015 - 12:13Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) are being discovered in ever-larger numbers
over the whole electromagnetic spectrum. Different bands employ
different methods to identify these sources but, most importantly,
provide different windows on AGN physics. The infrared band is mostly
sensitive to obscuring material and dust, the optical/UV band is related
to emission from the accretion disk, while the X-ray band traces the
emission of a (putative) corona. γ-ray and (high flux density) radio
samples, on the other hand, preferentially select AGN emitting strong
non-thermal radiation.
All-Wave Astronomy. Shklovsky-100Tue, 24/11/2015 - 08:19We are pleased to announce the International Conference "All-Wave
Astronomy. Shklovsky-100", which will take place in Moscow, Russia, from
20 to 22 June, 2016.

Science with the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX2016)Tue, 03/11/2015 - 14:46Continuing on the success of the 2012/14 Ringberg meetings on APEX
science where about 70 participants discussed exciting APEX results
ranging from our Solar system to distant galaxies in the Early Universe,
APEX2016 aims at presenting new science results and to looking into new
science opportunities for the next years. Now more than 10 years in
operation, the Atacama Pathfinder Experiment (APEX) 12 m submillimeter
telescope has significantly contributed to a wide variety of
submillimeter astronomy science areas, ranging from the discoveries of
new molecules to large and deep imaging of the submillimeter sky.
RadioNet3 - ERATec Meeting on youtubeTue, 20/10/2015 - 09:31The talks of the ERATec meeting - Multi-frequency mm-wave radio
telescopes & other software correlated operations are available in
you tube. The meeting was held on October 5-7, 2015 in Florence, Italy.
Call for Proposals of VERAMon, 12/10/2015 - 08:01We wish to inform you call for proposals of VERA; VLBI exploration of
Radio Astrometry. VERA is a Japanese VLBI network, which has four 20-m
stations in Japanese archipelago and aims phase referencing
and astrometry observations with 2-beam system. Deadline; November 02, 2015, 08:00 UT. New call for Participation in the Athena Working GroupsMon, 12/10/2015 - 07:58Approximately 1 year ago the Athena Science Study Team (ASST) issued a call for membership of the Athena Working Groups. To ensure that all interested scientists have an opportunity to participate in the mission, we have recently re-opened the application process at the following web site: http://fs6.formsite.com/ATHENA2028/form4/index.html IVTW 2015 - Abstract submission deadline extendedFri, 02/10/2015 - 13:59The deadline for submission of abstracts has been extended. It is now 1 November.
This year International VLBI Technology Workshop - IVTW 2015 - will be held in Auckland, New Zealand on 23-26 November. The website of the IVTW2015 is in http://www.irasr.aut.ac.nz/conferences/4th-international-vlbi-Technology... . |
