Achievements in reporting period:
During the reporting period (January 1st - September 25th) we have provided a total of 266 hours of e-MERLIN observations for TNA-enabled projects. These observations are associated with 6 original MERLIN and MERLIN+EVN projects. e-MERLIN is being commissioned during 2009 and 2010, and the observations reported here are in the original MERLIN bandwidth configuration but with new e-MERLIN receivers.
The TNA-enabled progammes are listed below:
Code | Title | PI | Time | ||||
MN/06B/13 | Low Power CSS | K-Bajraszewska | 49hrs
MN/08B/09 | NSL1-BAL Quasars | Zuther | 24hrs
RR022 | IC2497 | Rampadarath | 78hrs
EP064 | ULIRGs | Perez-Torres | 75hrs
EP065 | Megamaser ULIRGs | Perez-Torres | 25hrs
EW013 | OH masers in post-AGB stars | Wolak | 15hrs
Total 266hrs |
Observations for all these projects have now been completed.
During e-MERLIN commissioning proposals may only be submitted for Director's Discretionary Time. Future open proposal submission is planned to be re-introduced as e-MERLIN comes on line (around Q2 2010).
Problems / Issues
- Issues - organisational, administrative or other problems foreseen
- Red flags - major problems
Forward Look
- e-MERLIN digital commissioning is going well, with fringes from 3 telescopes. Two further telescopes due on-line by November, and last telescope (Cambridge) around the end of the year. MERLIN observations are still being made in conjunction with commissioning, and shared-risk observations with e-MERLIN will start in early 2010.
